“I want to get new ideas and gain experience.”
“I am looking for advice and help from the experts.”
“I am hoping to put my skills to use.”
The SSER hackathon started on Friday 27th September 2019 and the participating students told their expectations for the hackathon weekend. The list goes on: “I am here for meeting new people, expanding my network and working in a team. I want to learn from others – and have a good time with them!”
After changing the scenery from the lively city centre of Riga to the peaceful hackathon location Turbas, lunch – and a lot of food for thought – were served.
Aivars Timofejevs from SSER gave the welcoming words, introduced the NOCCA project and the hackathon, and inspired the students with a creativity workshop. The project manager from Haaga-Helia, Jari Luomakoski gave the keynote speech on the business and startup failure – and how to avoid it. David Suneps, entrepreneur and motivational speaker of the SSER hackathon, continued with a presentation on “Developing and selling your idea” and shared his own story in business. The students also got their voices heard. They presented themselves, their ideas and expectations and started formatting teams.
The SSER hackathon has only started – stay tuned for interviews, photos and other stories!
